During the 2012 Presidential Election I participated in the annual AIGA Get Out The Vote poster contest. AIGA’s mission behind the contest was to encourage young voters to vote. For the contest I was required to design a bipartisan poster and memorabilia which could be handed out either at community events or at the poles on election day.
The zombie idea was an inside joke that I had between me and my professor; we came to an agreement that people are becoming “zombies” when politics are mentioned in conversation, and in most occasions becomes a heated event. It is the reason why we see many who choose not to vote. Rather than ignore the issue we should instead encourage people to exercise their rights to vote regardless of their beliefs. It was this discussion that the zombie idea eventually became the concept of my theme
